We are humans and as humans we make mistakes. Mistakes can be taken in two ways; one way could be as a lesson and another way could be as a failure. Which one you choose is up to you to decide. For me, mistakes can be seen as a lesson as long as you are willing to learn from it and are trying not to make the same mistake. In my eyes, failure is seen as a step closer to your dreams. What determines success for me is the determination and dedication a person has towards acheving his or her goal. Always remember when you fall if you get back up and keep going, you are one step closer to success.
Cinema incident
The other day I went to the cinema with my family and when the movie was done and we were going out, a guy in cinema said that someone forgot their jacket. After saying that a couple of times, a girl that was there claimed the jacket as her own. Afterwards my family and I went to the bathroom. When we got out, we saw another girl that just got in the cinema saying that she forgot a her jacket. Hearing this, my mom waits until she gets out to tell her that other people have taken it. When the girl heard this, she thought maybe they had given it to one of the workers for her. She asked and looked around but there was no luck and she did not mange to get her jacket. I was thinking to myself, “how can someone take something that does not belong to them”? Personally , I can’t do that .There is no satisfaction in that and I would always constantly be remineded that the item is not mine and also that I have done something wrong by taking something that does not belong to me.
never forget those who believed in you!
You know what I can’t stand ? People who forget those who were beside them through it all. When they were struggling and trying to make it in life, the person that was beside them be it spouse, family members or and a friend. Now they have made it to the top or are successful, they no longer want to be seen around those people because they think they’re better then them. They are now going after people who are on the same level as them. I mean it is really sad, even thinking about it makes me mad. The person thinks they made it all on their own. Yes I believe that the person put a lot of hard work to get to where he or she is, but if they didn’t have the support of the people around them when they were down there trying hard and struggling, they would have never got to the place they are now. It might be a moral or financial support, whatever the case is somehow it gave them a step up and closer to their dreams, so I believe they should never forget or distance themself from those who were truly there for them no matter the circumstance.I believe that those are the people who are there for you and not for what you have.
It is better to take a step back and understand the situation
In life think postively. Let me tell you what I mean by that. Experience is one of life’s best lesson. The experience I want to share with you is the one I had in the taxi the other day. This experience made me realize how it is sometimes good to stand up for yourself, but most importantly it is better to evaluate the situations and take an action accordingly . My story starts when me and my cousin where in the taxi on our way to the mall. The taxi usually makes a couple of stops and unloads and loads people. On one of the stops there was a pregnant lady who was standing outside ready to come in the taxi. When the lady got in the people in the taxi told my cousin to leave her seat for the pregnant lady and move to a different seat. When I heard that I told my cousin not to leave her seat. Not knowing that the lady was pregnant my first instinct was that they were taking advantage of my cousin just because they simple thought they could. Later on ,when I found out she was pregnant I felt ashamed for what had happened. At that moment I was embarrassed. I thought to myslef, “why was my first thought so negative”?This made me realize that it is better to take a step back and understand the situation before taking an action that you will regret.
Ethiopia and it’s so called cleanliness
I can’t stand guys that pee on the street of Addis.I find guys that pee on the street very impolite. Those guys that pee on the street may be nice to other people but they are impolite to their country. If you want a country to grow and become better ,then you should try and contribute to the solution not be part of the problem. The reason why Ethiopia is not growing in terms of it’s cleanliness ,I believe, is because people don’t contribute to change. They contribute to the mistake that other people have been doing. The reason I assume people continue in wrong-doing might be because they might think that they might not make a difference if they see all that dirt. Another reason might be they might not think the land belongs to them unless and other ways they own it. I am pretty sure that people in this country try to keep their houses clean because it reflects on what type of people they are, and or they like living in a clean house. Just as this, we should all feel responsible to keep the country clean because if we care, we would not add to the trash others have made to this country.
March for our lives
I was honored to have a chance to attend the March for our lives rally in Washington DC. During the march, I heard some inspiring, motivating, encouraging and pain-filled speeches. Thousands of people gathered on the street for a common purpose, holding up their signs and standing in unity for what they believe. The people that gathered on that day in DC and in other states wanted their voice to be heard on the matter of gun control. I believe that if you are not part of the military or the police department or any Correctional law enforcement you should not be able to purchase a gun no matter what. Those people are put in that position so that they can protect the country. We should already feel safe with them around that we don’t need to have guns in our homes, but you might debate saying that some people feel more safe if they have a gun, so in time of danger they then can fire it and protect themselves. I also believe unless it is being used in the proper way (only in the need of an emergency for self-defense), then I believe guns should be banned from being purchased to anyone other than those put in position to protect the country. Even they should only be allowed to use their guns when they are on duty. Innocent lives are being lost and we can’t just be doing nothing about it.
Time
In a world where people come and go, it is good to know who your ture friends are. Though you might not know at the moment time has a nice way of reveling who your ture friends are. In time you will find out who will be by your side throw it all and who is there just for the fun ride. You meet people for a reason, to confront you at times, to laugh with you. All in all to be there throw your ups and downs. There is a big difference between friends and people who are simple just there to spend time with you. Yes, those people who are spending time with you are called your friends, but are they really your friends ? Only time will tell. Time is the best medicine. When you are going through a break up give it time you will heal. When you want to know if the guy is the one give it time and you will know. And when you want to know who your true friends are give it time and you will find out. Through it all time is that special gift a person could ever have. A simple example is when you have an exam what do you want more of time so you can study more. when you’re in love what do you want to do? spend more time with that person. when you are on vacation what do you want more of? time so you can have more fun. Whatever the case is time will have the answer but with the help of other things that come along the way during that time.
what guarantee do you have that you have found the one.
How do you know when a guy is the one? Is it the way he looks at you, is it the way he treats you, is it the way he talkes to you, is it the places he takes you, is it what he buys for you, is it the way he dances, what is it that assures you that he is the one? Is it the way you feel, is it the way you act, is it the way you talk to him, is it the way he makes you smile, is the way you spend your time with him. What guarantee do you have that he is the one?
Wrote this a couple months ago.
In a few months I’ll be graduating with my Bachelors in Social Work. Although all I’ve been doing is learning I now have to step into the work world. Even though I haven’t given work much thought. I am now going to start internship at Valley program aging service. I just had my interview this past Thursday the interview was smooth and nice and I’m starting this Tuesday. I really don’t know what is required of me during the job hours but I’m really excited and looking forward to start tomorrow. Although I’m still working as an internship and have had no experience in the field I’m willing and very happy to be gaining some experience and knowledge along the way. I’m working in a small nonprofit organization that helps the elderly within the community and at the center. Even though I might not have much of a one-on-one connection with the elderly population nevertheless I will still have a few connections. There will be times where I will be able to witness the work first hand. As part of my interview I was told that I would be able to visit the homes at least once a week. Although that is not much of a Time the rest of the week I will be doing some paperwork and helping around as much as I can. Even though I’m anxious about the whole working situation I am more happy and excited to have the experience. Having a week filled with different activities meeting new people and experiencing new areas of Interest and being able expand my ideas and thoughts and implements what I have learned is my main goal throughout this work.
What is ” normal”?
The issue started long time ago treating people differently just because of who they are. People do not have a choice on who they are they simply were created and born just the way they’re supposed to be. Some people are treated unequally just simply because of their gender, race and or religion. More specifically I want to focus on race. race the topic that is brought up in almost every country.In any country we go to we will for sure find different races. The nation is taught to think that one race are superior and better than another race. Minorities nowadays are taught to work harder than any other race because the world that they leave in has made it difficult for them to succeed. Even though it has gotten better then the past, it has not gotten to the point where you see a hundred percent equality. They are people who are standing up for themselves trying to bring awareness and trying to make a difference in any way they can, but they are not able to solve the problem. How can everyone unite as one in love without having the fear of being treated unequally because of who they are. Sometimes there are simple comments that I hear from people that makes me question how ignorant someone could be. The other day I was talking to a friend about the movie Black Panther and I asked him if he has seen the movie he replied “saying that it is a racist movie and he is not going to see it”. I was shocked by his response. I was shocked to hear that kind of response from a black person. A person that’s black was saying that the movie Black Panther is made by all black actors and that is a racist movie. I told him that he watches a movie with all white actress in it and he doesn’t find that to be racist but when it comes to his own skin color a movie empowering the minorities he finds that to be odd and racist. he said that, that is abnormal and not supposed to happen. Something becames abnormal when your thaught to think and are only exposed to societies definitin of what is “normal”. We are all living on this earth and sharing the land. We are all here for a purpose to make a difference. We should not except people to treat us any differently due to our physical appearance just because it is portrayed not as “normal”. What is normal and who is defining the word “normal”?
